Module 3 – Lesson 7

Posts are short, timely updates you can publish directly to your Google Business Profile (GBP). Think of them like mini social media posts — but for Google, which is where your future clients are searching. Google likes new updates, so when you share posts about your business, special offers, or news, it helps people find you faster.

Posts also help Google understand what your business does by using important words and topics. When people click, call, or visit your website from your posts, Google sees that your business is popular and trusted. The more and better you post, the higher you rank in Google Maps.

This lesson will teach you the winning strategies of when and what to post.

If you don’t want to deal with the hassle of making posts yourself, optimized posting is part of our Monthly GBP Optimization Packages. We only work with two clients in each area, book a call with us today to see if we can work with you.

I. GBP Post Basics

The best GBP posts are relevant, localized, and focused on helping your ideal client take the next step.

• Rotate between types weekly. This keeps your GBP content dynamic, helps Google show your profile in more types of searches, and shows potential clients that you’re an active, trusted local expert.

• When first starting, make the posts specific to your actual location. Then as you start to gain in the rankings, start making the content of the posts relevant to a larger search area. This is an important tactic in helping Google understand that you are relevant in a wider area.

How Often To Post:

o We recommend 4–12 posts per month depending on competition level and population size.

  • Research how many times per month the top 10 listings in your area are posting. You want to post about 10–25% more than they do.
  • For big cities and wider areas, we find that around 12 posts per month is needed.

• A Google Business Profile (GBP) post should ideally be: 150 to 300 words. That’s the sweet spot — long enough to include helpful details, keywords, and a clear call-to-action, but short enough to keep people’s attention and fit naturally on mobile.

o Here’s a quick breakdown:

  • First 100 characters are critical: This is what people see in the preview on Google Search, so make it captivating and benefit-driven.
  • Use local keywords naturally: Mention neighborhoods, cities, or property types like “homes for sale in Lake Highlands” or “first-time buyer tips for [service area].”
  • Add 1 clear call-to-action (CTA) at the end: “Call now,” “Schedule a tour,” “Claim your free valuation,” “Send us a message,” “Book a free consultation.”
  • Avoid fluff: Be direct and helpful. People scrolling Google want quick info and next steps.

There are four main types of posts you can create:

1. What’s New – Share general updates like new listings, closings, blog content, or real estate tips.

2. Event – Promote open houses, buyer workshops, or neighborhood events.

3. Offer – Great for time-sensitive incentives like “Free Home Valuation This Month” or “List Your Home and Get Free Staging.”

4. Product – Useful if you want to highlight specific services, like “First-Time Buyer Consultations” or “Investor-Friendly Property Search.”

IV. Action Steps/Homework

• By following these steps, you’ll establish a consistent, optimized posting routine that helps your GBP stand out and attract more real estate clients.

Step 1: Research Posting Frequency in Your Market

A. Search for the top 10 real estate Google Business Profiles in your area.

B. Count how many posts they make per month.

C. Set a goal to post about 10–25% more often than the most active competitor.

Step 2: Plan Your First Four Posts

A. Choose four post types to rotate through (e.g., What’s New, Event, Offer, Product).

B. Decide on the topics for each post, such as:

• New listing

• Just sold/under contract

• Upcoming open house or event

• Market update or community highlight

Step 3: Write Your First Post

A. Draft a post between 150–300 words.

B. Make the first 100 characters attention-grabbing and benefit-driven.

C. Use local keywords (neighborhoods, city names, property types) naturally in the text.

D. End with a clear call-to-action (e.g., “Call now,” “Schedule a tour,” “Claim your free valuation”).

Step 4: Create and Collect Visuals

A. Gather or create relevant, high-quality images for each planned post (e.g., property photos, event graphics, neighborhood shots).

Step 5: Publish Your First Post on GBP

A. Log in to your Google Business Profile.

B. Create and publish your first post with the text and image you prepared.

Step 6: Schedule Your Next Three Posts

A. Use a GBP post scheduling tool (such as OneUp, Planable, GoHighLevel, or Sendible) to schedule the next three posts for the upcoming weeks.

B. Make sure each post uses a different post type and topic for variety.

Step 7: Track Engagement and Adjust

A. After your first post goes live, monitor its views, clicks, and any actions taken.

B. Make notes on what works well and plan to adjust future posts for better engagement.
